Manuscript Accepted for Publication!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
A happy ending for my manuscript, "The Earl's Enchantment": I received an email a few hours earlier from Ami Russell at the Wild Rose Press letting me know it's been accepted for publication. It is a paranormal story that will be featured under the Faery Rise line, and I will be adding more details later on my website and here on the blog.

Manuscript Requested!

So, I noted on Friday that I had submitted a query for my short story, "The Earl's Enchantment," to the Wild Rose Press for consideration. Fabulous news today- in my email inbox, I received an email with a request for the full manuscript. I'm beyond thrilled. It took all my courage to submit the story in the first place, so I definitely feel encouraged to keep on pursuing my writing dreams.

More later! I'm off to polish and submit! :)

First Submission Completed!

Well, it's finally happened- my first submission of my work to a publisher. Though I'm still hard to work on my Regency-set historical novel, I recently completed a paranormal historical short story. After researching different online publishers, I chose the Wild Rose Press after hearing about it a the RWA National Conference in Atlanta. Now, I'll be crossing my fingers. Luckily, I have my novel and my research to keep me busy- it's best to keep busy, I've heard.

Exercise for Writers

As a researcher, composition/literature professor, and writer, I find it helpful to try to keep limber (so I can keep up with all my grading and writing!). The exercises I find most useful to keep the mind-body connection strong are: Walking, Pilates, yoga, belly dance, tai chi and ballet. Classes are helpful, but I generally prefer using videos, since it's hard to make the time to find and attend a class. The videos below are my favorites:

50 Strategies for Making Yourself Work, Jerry Oltion

An inspiring article, and one I intend to post by my computer. With all the normal, daily distractions we writers have in our lives, it can be easy to avoid the craft of writing. If you've ever find yourself making excuses why you don't have time to write (and I have tons of them!), you should check out Oltion's article.
